Michael Schlein

Since 2009, Michael Schlein has served as President and CEO of Accion, a global nonprofit committed to creating a financially inclusive world, with a pioneering legacy in microfinance and fintech impact investing. He is responsible for implementing Accion’s strategy, managing its global team, and building partnerships with the private and public sectors. Prior to joining Accion in 2009, Michael held several roles at Citigroup, including President of Citigroup’s International Franchise Management. He also served as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and in New York’s City Hall. Michael has graduate and undergraduate degrees from MIT, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
